Fi-Ni could lead him to be paranoid about the outside world, supporting his decision to stay inside. Fi-Si would lead him to being getting used to his forced isolation from his family and getting stuck to the same routine of being confined to his house and not seeing anything to new to change his predicament though to be fair there are probably little to no options for him at that point. It's possible that his reclusiveness could partly stem from him being stuck in a function loop, Fi-Si or Fi-Ni. ![]() Arguments could made in either case for INFP or ISFP. Adding to the fact he likely has some psychological disorder, probably social anxiety, doesn't help. In regards to Boo Radley, it's hard to type him since we don't see much of him in the book. Tom Robinson - XSFJ, came across as reserved but that may be because of his situation as a black man in an unfair trial in the racist southĪrthur "Boo" Radley - Most likely IXFP, maybe INFP That and a man who knows he's licked but keeps on fighting anyway. That's how you really defeat scum like that: stay calm and cool, don't give him the reaction he wants and then take pity on him. I long for the ability to have some scumbag like Ewell spit in my face and not lose my composure for a second and later actually empathize with him and his motives. Sure, sometimes it's fun to admire a character like Greg House or somebody and embrace your sarcastic dickish side, but at the end of the day, there's no one I would aspire to be more like than Atticus. He more than anybody taught me the importance of empathy as a kid. But I think the character of Atticus as a whole is indeed INFJ, or maybe INFP.Īt any rate, Atticus just might be the character I most admire in all of fiction. Based on what I know about Peck's life, I think he was just such a type himself. Gregory Peck portrays Atticus as a mature INTP in my opinion. even if the man was trying to kill his kids. but I have a hard time thinking an ISTJ would go against the law / compromise their integrity as much as Atticus does when it comes to covering up a murder. It's been a long time since I read it.ĮTA: The only OTHER type I could see him being is ISTJ. Not sure what his type in the book is, though. He's something of an intellectual idealist, not interested in preserving the traditions of the past, but desperately hoping that SOMEONE on that jury will do the right thing yet, he knows they won't. ![]() Atticus does all his thinking inside his head, and keeps everyone around him happy. Is highly emotional but also uses her Te as a grounding focus. You can see a much stronger Fi-Te dynamic in Scout. Atticus compromises - he even gives up the law and the truth at the end for a lie, to protect Boo Radley. He also tells Scout to try walking in someone else's shoes - something I doubt would come out of an IXTJ's mouth. Jem challenges him and he compromises to keep his children happy, rather than fight them. Fe says find something you can agree on and keep the peace. ![]() Fi would say hold to your convictions and do the right thing. He compromises all the time to keep everyone happy, and tells Scout to do the same thing - very Fe. It's very reserved in the sense that he doesn't like to show his own emotions all that much, but the drive for social harmony is there.
